Mar 28, 2022 at 20:47 | comment | added | bobsmith76 | I think Martia modifies 'labor', but if it modifies classica then I still can't understand the sentence. What the subject of the main clause? I think 'labor' what is its verb? I think 'terreat' what is the nominative subjective of the clause subordinated by 'quem'? I don't know. What is the verb of the clause subordinated by 'quem'? I don't know. What is the subject and verb of the clause subordinated by 'cui'? Probably 'classica' and 'fugent'.

Also, why move "Martia" to the fist part instead of leaving it in the second part to modify "classica"? Try analyzing the text in this order: "quem assiduus labor, vicino hoste, terreat; cui Martia classica pulsa somnos fugent."
