Saying "Speak English!" to someone in English may have the meaning "speak intelligibly", so while the meaning of the words is not the same, the intent and meaning of the whole sentence is preserved perfectly. Neither may be always desirable though, since this depends on the purpose of the translation (translating prose vs. webpages), and this kind of meta-language problems Google Translate cannot solve. | |
